Schroeder Park: The Teen Scene

The summer of 2026 Believe Teen Center brought activities to Schroeder Park in Eagle River. Teens came to hang out, play sports, make things, join group activities and be part of building something good in the community.

Summer 2026

A place where teens showed up, had fun, and belonged.

We operated from May 26 through Aug 12 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12-5pm. We had over 100 students attend throughout the summer and averaged 15-20 kids per day. Our daily programming included lots of sports and games. We had pop up art days along with an amazing Lake Day and Watermelon Football & Slip n slide Kickball day.

A COMMUNITY EFFORT

Schroeder Park: The Teen Scene would not have been possible without the incredible organizations, businesses, and community members who stepped up to invest in local teens.

Youth For Christ Alaska partnered with Believe Teen Center throughout the summer, helping provide staffing, support, and resources.

We are incredibly grateful to American Legion Auxiliary Unit 33 and VFW Post 9785 for their generous financial support of our summer programming.

A special thank you also goes to an anonymous ConocoPhillips Alaska employee whose generosity was multiplied through the company’s employee matching gift program.

Chugiak-Eagle River Parks & Recreation played an enormous role in making Teen Scene possible. They generously provided the use of Schroeder Park, access to sports and recreation equipment.

This program was made possible in part by a grant from the Alaska Community Foundation’s Nourished Communities initiative, in support of and coordination with the Chugiak Eagle River Foundation, an Affiliate of the Alaska Community Foundation.

A huge thank you to AK Wildbrush for teaching and hosting some amazing art classes and providing all the materials and guiding our teens through fun hands-on projects at no cost to our teens.

We are also incredibly grateful to ACF Church. Through Impact Alaska over 100 volunteers cleaned up Schroeder Park and they continued to support us by providing food and volunteers for several of our biggest event days.

To every organization, donor, volunteer, staff member, parent, and community member who gave time, resources, encouragement, or financial support: THANK YOU.

Intramural Sport Leagues

We had several sports throughout the summer. One of the favorites was Ultimate Frisbee with a league that met every Wednesday. Throughout the week there were pick up games for basketball, frisbee golf, football, volleyball, pickle ball and kickball.

Arts & Crafts

A huge thanks to AK Wildbrush for coming out and hosting some incredible art days this summer. The teens created some beautiful works of art from painting rocks to crafting photo frames.

Life Skills

Another large thanks to our volunteer Jim who taught kids how to tune and fix their bikes this summer!

Free Meals

We were able to provide 550+ free and nutritious meals and snacks.
